The Sonoran Desert: Past & Present
Available seasonally, beginning in October 2012

Upon first glance, the Sonoran Desert seems as
foreign and desolate as traveling to another planet.

Through the eyes of your guide you will soon discover that the desert is filled with plant and animal life you will see no where else in the world. Comfortable tour vehicles will take you on the road less traveled as you navigate the Sonoran Desert, home to over 17 Native American tribes. At Saguaro National Park you will learn how the native people lived in harmony with the harsh desert environment, and how their culture was directly influenced by the diversity of the land's unique ecology. Then you will travel to the nearby Silver Bell mining district and tour the legendary "Hellhole of Arizona." Rounding out the day, Southwest Odyssey Tours will take you to the oldest and largest anthropology museum in the Southwest for an up-close look at rare archaeological artifacts, comprehensive Native American art collections, and the latest regional anthropological discoveries.
